2010 HIGH HOLIDAY UPDATE CLICK HERE TO RSVP
Sim Shalom Havurah/Synagogue of Manhattan's innovative 2010 High Holiday services for Rosh Hashana evening (Weds. Sept. 8th) and Yom Kippur (Kol NIdre) evening (Friday Sept. 17th) will take place at 7:30PM sharp each night and will be short and simple yet extraordinary. In the span of 75 minutes each evening, we will offer services that are fully participatory, musical, thought-provoking, up-lifting and complete- satisfying our spiritual need for communal High Holy Day worship. Our Jewish synagogue services will transcend denominations and welcome people of all faiths. High Holy Day services will combine traditional liturgy with songs and poetry and all the text will be projected on a screen. Torah will be read not by one person, but by everyone in the room and the Shofar will sound as the assembly calls out the number of shofar blasts to awaken our spirits. Kol Nidre will not merely be a performance by a Cantor but also a meditation on the cleansing of our spirits and the nurturing of our souls.
Casual and simple dress is fine. Services take place at the New York Theatre Lab at 137 West 14th Street, between 6th & 7th Avenues
$25 per person per service donation suggested. Space is very limited so please RSVP ASAP at www.simshalom.com/RSVP
Hello. My name is Steve Blane and I am a Rabbi and Cantor. In addition to performing Jewish weddings, I officiate (or co-officiate) at Civil, Non-Religious, Interfaith, Spiritual and Same-Sex weddings or vow-renewals.
I also officiate at Bar & Bat Mitzvahs, Baby Namings, House Blessings and Funerals and Pet Memorial Services.
Destination weddings are a specialty. I am based in New York City and Northern New Jersey, but I will officiate anywhere in the world at any ceremony that celebrates love and commitment between two people. I offer my skills and more than twenty years of experience and will accommodate you in every possible way.

I frequently perform civil weddings in Central Park. I'm the only rabbi I know who rides up on his bike to officiate at wedding ceremonies!
I also prepare students for their Bar or Bat Mizvahs and I will lead services on their special days at the location of your choice.
Please see my testimonial page.
While I am an Interfaith Rabbi, I am also trained as a Cantor and I sing and play guitar & piano. Some couples like to hear me sing their favorite love song during the processional or ceremony or for the couple's first dance. You can hear a sample of a traditional wedding as well as a few romantic wedding songs on my Bio & Videos page. I also sing and play Jazz- and I'm available to do a short set before or after your ceremony!
My fee is very reasonable for a quick simple civil ceremony (an exchange of rings & vows) in Manhattan. You can even have your ceremony in my office which is located in the 70's on Riverside Drive, overlooking the Hudson River! There is an additional travel fee for
other NYC Boroughs.
For a religious ceremony or one that is customized (which might include a spiritual component, readings, a song, customized vows, etc.) please call me at directly at 646-736-7481 for more information.

Having
your Jewish Wedding, Interfaith Wedding, Civil, Non-Religious or Same-Sex Wedding officiated by me, you can trust that I
will provide you with exactly the type of ceremony you request- from a simple exchange of vows and rings through a more spiritual ceremony or a traditional wedding filled with ritual. It is totally up to you! I will accommodate your needs and support your choices.
Please see my testimonial page.
In
our phone conversation, video chat or personal meeting we will go over
exactly what you would like your wedding ceremony to include. And of
course, I will help to guide you through the entire process from
obtaining a marriage license through breaking the wedding glass!
